America’s Dog at Navy Pier and Buckingham Fountain has all the bases covered for summertime yum

CHICAGO, June 19, 2003 — Whether hot dog lovers are originally from Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas or right here in Chicago, America’s Dog at Navy Pier and Buckingham Fountain will have all the right fixings – from sauerkraut and brown mustard to coleslaw, chili and cheddar – to make frank connoisseurs feel right at home. Knowing that Navy Pier and buckingham Fountain attract visitors from across the nation, brothers Manolies and George Alpoganis embarked on a three-month tour visiting major American cities to determine what condiments dog lovers in different towns prefer. The Alpoganis’ findings are represented on a diverse menu of hot dog delights.

“In Milwaukee, bratwurst are popular, so we made a Milwaukee Dog which is a Leon’s Brand brat topped with sauerkraut and brown mustard. In Dallas, it’s popular to put chili, cheese and onions on a dog. Our new Baltimore Dog is a deep fried hot dog topped with melted cheddar cheese and grilled onions. If diners have a taste for something else, our sandwhich menu offers a variety of hearty and healthy choices,” explains Manolis Alpoganis, chief hot do engineer, America’s Dog.

Starting each creation with a 100-percent beef Vienna hot dog placed in a bakery fresh poppy seed bun, America’s Dog offers more than a dozen delectable hot dog variations in two sizes (Regular $2.69; Jumbo $3.39). including: classic Chicago Dog – covered with mustard, relish, onion, sport peppers, tomato, pickle and celery salt; new Buffalo Dog – garnished with hot Buffalo sauce, blue cheese and celery salt; Altanta Dog – completed with coleslaw, chili, mustard and onion; Louisiana Dog – topped off with barbecue sauce, grilled onions and fresh tomato; Kansas City Dog – the one diners love with melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and yellow mustard;; or for an out-of-this-world experience, Cosmic Dog – fully loaded with chili, mustard, ketchup, relish, onion, pickle, tomato, shredded cheddar and celery salt.
